Raise Funds for The Children’s Miracle Network
North Las Vegas, NV – On September 17, 2011, gymnastics coaches, enthusiasts, athletes, families, and fans will gather around the country to celebrate National Gymnastics Day 2011 in support of the Children’s Miracle Network. At 10:00am local time (1:00pm EST) participants from coast to coast will kick up to a handstand in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for most simultaneous handstands.
Go For It USA would like to invite the community to be a part of this event, which will be hosted at the Go For It USA academy in North Las Vegas. Brandy Bauman, owner of Go For It USA points out, “This is a great opportunity to have some fun, be a part of history, and support a great cause. With 2012 being an Olympic year, excitement is building. Gymnastics has so many benefits, for any age and any ability, and the National Gymnastics Day is a really fun way to get that message out there.” Three time Guinness World Records holder Jesus Villa, CEO of HalfAnimal, will also be making an appearance, as he trains for his own attempt to set an astounding fourth World Record.
Doors will open at 9:45 am, and the record attempt will occur promptly at 10:00 am, September 17th. There will be time for a few practice handstands prior to the record attempt, and coaches will be on hand to offer tips and assistance. Of course for those who would like more in depth instruction, classes are available for every age and ability, including adults. Open gym is offered Saturday evenings from 7-9. Go to www.goforitusa.com for more information on class and open gym schedules and pricing.
Following the record attempt, Go For It USA will hold a “Handstand Hike” in support of the students at Go For It USA, and a raffle for the Children’s Miracle Network will be held. Prizes for the raffle will include, but not be limited to, free tuition, leotards from the pro shop, and free private lessons. Direct donations to the Children’s Miracle Network are also welcome.
Since 2001, gymnastics clubs across the country have raised more than $1.4 million for Children's Miracle Network. The funds raised in southern Nevada will go to St. Rose Dominican’s Hospital. According to their website, “Since 1983, Children's Miracle Network has raised more than $9 million for Southern Nevada making Children's Miracle Network one of the largest contributors to the development of pediatric services in the Las Vegas Valley. Most funds are generated through donations from corporate sponsors as well as through special events.” Donations can be made at www.helpmakemiracles.org/participant/goforitusa.
