F2F New Baby Center - September Calendar open for RSVP's!

Family to Family Connection offers free services to families of newborn babies and infants up to the age of four. The services include visits to new mothers at Mountain View Hospital and home visits upon request.



We have a New Baby Center open to parents for various classes and support groups. Our resource lending center is available for the loan of books, videos, CD's and cassettes.

SEPTEMBER
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS


A Craft Class with Suzy - Join our Nurse, Suzy Maurer as she leads you during this craft class.


Art Starts Here - Sarah will lead you and your children through fun art projects for the budding artist.


Baby Play Group - A play group specific for infants to socialize and interact with other babies.


Beginning Activities for Infants (Spanish Only) - There are many different colors, textures and sounds in which infants respond most actively too in their surroundings. Come and join Olga Pizaro in introducing some of these simple brain-stimulating activities to your infant.


Beginning English and Spanish (In My Home)-Come and join us in learning the basics of both the English and Spanish languages together. Enjoy practicing simple household activities while using the applicable bilingual words! This class will be taught by Rebekah.


Beginning Toddler Activities - This class is for younger toddlers to learn some basic skills that they have not yet learned or have not been exposed to quite yet. This class will be set up so we work on 3 different skills in 15 minute increments to prevent boredom or loss of focus. This class will be taught by Erica.


Birth order and Personality Traits- This class is taught by Our RN Michelle Menor.


Daddy and Me Play Group- Calling all dads, grandpas, and or uncles! This play group will be for dads and their kids to enjoy a bonding experience with their child and interact with other dads and their kids. This class will be led by Dustin Peterson, UNLV Program Coordinator for Leadership Development.


Developmental Activities (English & Spanish) - Is your child having problems with transitions or sitting still for things such as story-time or different developmental activities? Come and join in with Erica and Ruby in practicing these different skills through circle time and educational stations.

Eating Smart Being Active - (English & Spanish) - This class will teaches food safety, money management and instills behavioral skills to prepare and eat a nutritious diet. This class has eight different sessions that will be offered. Taught by Monique Cleveland Community Based Instructor II for University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.


Explore and Learn - These are developmental classes put together by the great people from Early Intervention Services of Southern Nevada. There will be specialists available to answer your developmental questions as well as to provide important information regarding your children’s development.


Family and Friends CPR - This class is for parents/adults only. Come learn life-saving techniques or refresh your current skills. This is not for certification purposes. Our RN Michelle Menor will be offering this class.


F2F Literacy Prep- This class has been designed for three year olds. Early Literacy is so important for your child’s academic success. Come have fun cultivating a joy of learning with your child through song and poem time, story time, and center activities. This class will be taught by Family to Family Instructors.


Get In Shape With Zumba-Come and learn some new while moves while dancing and toning your body. Dance the Zumba with Amor!


Gym for You and Me!!-Marcela Lopez has put together a class full of energy! This class is designed for those toddlers who are already walking. The purpose of this class is to concentrate on small and large muscle development as well as coordination and listening.


How To Raise Independent Children - Learn to express your love for your child in ways that benefit his/her future development. Taught by Dianne Farkas, MS.


Independent Play - This class will encourage your child to use his/her imagination in participating in free play. This can be really good for your child’s creativity


Infant Massage I & II - You can help your baby sleep better, digest food better and cry less by learning infant massage techniques. Bring a towel or blanket which you don’t mind being soiled by the natural oil we will use for massage. This is a 2 series class; please plan on attending both classes. Taught by Joellyn Somberg, MBA, PT.

Let’s Have Fun Making Play dough, Goo, and Paint!!-Learn how to make your own Play dough, sidewalk paint and goo from ingredients in your pantry. This class will be taught by Teresa Toplak.


Let’s Make Music!!!-Come and have fun singing and creating a musical tube while exploring the different sounds instruments make! Cambria will be teaching this class.


Mommy and Baby Belly Dancing-Doing mommy and baby belly dancing with your baby/toddler is a great way to get back in shape while meeting other moms. This class is taught by Amira Dennis.


Mommy/Baby Yoga-Doing mom and baby yoga with your baby is a great way to get back into shape while meeting other moms. This class is taught by Rebekah.


Mommy Support Group (Spanish)-Come join in with other moms to get help and support regarding resources or any kid or mommy questions you may have. Carmen Valencia will be over-seeing this class.


Mommy Support Group-There are so many stresses that go along with being a mom. Come and join in with other moms to ask questions and get the much-needed support you may need. Marsha Hayes will be leading this class.


Move & Groove-Marcela Lopez will guide your children in a variety of musical fun through singing, dancing and sign language!


Nutrition for Children (Spanish Only) - Food provides the energy and nutrients that a baby or child needs to stay healthy. Learn about essential and necessary foods for your children from birth to adolescence. Class taught by Dr, Valencia and will only be offered in Spanish.


Parent Effectiveness Training - Come and learn how to communicate effectively with your children. A must attend class because of its informational content. Taught by Dianne Farkas, MS.


Planning for your Child’s Future (Financially) - This class will teach parents ways they can plan for their child’s future. Taught by Ulyanna Chung, Agent of State Farm Insurance.


Positive Behavior (Spanish only) - Come and join psychologist Olga Pizarro in learning some necessary strategies to encourage your child to engage in positive behavior.  


Silly Dancin’-A mommy & me dance class; join your child to see how silly we can dance to fun music. Taught by Marcela Lopez.


Your Baby Will Read Soon Enough-Reading aloud to your child is the best thing you can do to prepare them for learning to read. Learn how to instill a love of reading in your child and set them on the course to become lifelong readers. Jennifer Jost will be leading this class.


1,2,3 Counting Fun!-Come join us at the library to learn all about numbers through song, books and an arts and crafts. Cambria will be leading this class.


5 Secrets to Permanent Weight Loss-Have you been wondering how to lose unwanted pounds? If so come join Dr.Grimes as he lets us in on “5 Secrets to Permanent Weight Loss”.
