Description from site:
Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day when the Springs Preserve hosts its annual What On Earth Day event. The green-hued, family-friendly event will feature a day full of activities.
Join us in the Gift Shop at 1 p.m. for Green Storytime with Kevin Janison, KVBC-TV Channel 3's Emmy award-winning meteorologist and author of the "Deputy Dorkface" series of children's books. Try your athletic and sustainable living skills at our Earth Day Olympics triathlon, which includes a water relay, a recycling sort, and an oversized board game.
A selection of three environmentally themed films provided by Whole Foods Market will be shown in the Big Springs Theater starting at 10 a.m. with the final film beginning at 4:15 p.m. The films shown on a rotating schedule include "Food, Inc," "End of the Line," and "No Impact Man." Due to space limitations, only 150 tickets for each showing will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis for each film, available beginning one hour before each scheduled show time. Check out more eco-conscious films being shown around Las Vegas during the Earth Week Film Festival.
Our annual Green Dreamers Art and Science Fair showcases art and science projects created by local students giving creative expression to their concerns about current environmental issues, their hopes for change, and their appreciation for the natural environment through sculpture, video, photography, painting, drawing, or other media.
In addition, there will be a trade show featuring local non-profits and green businesses, live entertainment including a DJ, Green Magician and other local entertainers on the main stage of the amphitheater, as well as face painters, roving mascots and others helping to create a festive, street fair atmosphere. Organic, vegetarian and vegan food options will be available in the Springs Cafe by Wolfgang Puck.
What on Earth Day is made possible in part thanks to Whole Foods Market, Bombard Electric and Unilever.
